The St. Augustine Historical Society has partnered with the Historic Florida Militia to bring their wildly popular "School of the 16th Century" encampment to the grounds of the St. Augustine Historical Society at 14 St. Francis St.
On Friday, February 18, visitors of the Oldest House Museum Complex can meet with the living history interpreters and take in all the sights of a 16th-century encampment. “Classes” will be held at the encampment on Saturday Feb 19. Come see what 16th Century life was like in St. Augustine. Witness demonstrations of historic weapons, including the crossbow, matchlock musket, pikes, and sword fighting. See the clothing, crafts, culinary techniques, and the military and religious practices of that era. It's going to be a fantastic weekend of fun and education. Come out and see us!
For the days of this event (Feb. 18 &19) admission to the Oldest House Museum Complex and Gardens is waived. Donations are encouraged and appreciated, and directly supports the St. Augustine Historical Society and events like this.
